From October 13th to 15th, the 9th Member Representative Assembly of the China Steel Construction Society and the 2025 China Steel Structure Conference were held in Nanning, Guangxi. The conference, hosted by the China Steel Construction Society, attracted over 700 participants, including renowned industry experts, representatives from regional steel structure associations, enterprises, research institutes, universities, design institutes, and construction units.

At the meeting on the morning of October 14th, Xia Nong, Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Industry Association, read out the “Notice on the Review Results of Candidates for the Ninth Council of the China Steel Construction Society”. Yue Qingrui, President of the Society, made a working report on behalf of the Eighth Council, systematically reviewing the breakthrough progress made by the Society in the past six years in party building leadership, technological innovation, standard upgrading, international cooperation, and talent development. He also proposed the “Eight Continuous Deepening” work suggestions for the Ninth Council, pointing out the direction for the future development of the Society.

The conference elected 365 members of the 9th Council and 7 supervisors of the 2nd Supervisory Board through secret ballot, with Xue Jian as the chairman of the supervisory board. The amendment to the “Constitution” was also approved by a vote. At the first meeting of the 9th Council, 103 executive directors and 28 responsible persons were elected. Zeng Bin was elected as the president, 26 people including Wang Yugui were elected as vice presidents, and Li Qingwei was elected as the secretary general. After the meeting, Xia Nong exchanged views with the 28 newly appointed responsible persons of the Council.

In his speech, the newly appointed president Zeng Bin emphasized that the 9th Council will adhere to the “four services” principle, focusing on enhancing the association’s cohesion, focusing on technological innovation, strengthening the construction of industry standards, and promoting green and low-carbon development. He pledged to serve the national “dual carbon” goals and work with members to draw a new blueprint for China’s steel structure industry.

In the keynote report session, participating experts exchanged and shared experiences on relevant hot topics such as cutting-edge steel structure technology, macroeconomics, steel demand, overseas expansion strategies, and industrialization of construction, providing in-depth analysis of industry trends.

The conference also presented 118 Science and Technology Awards of the China Steel Construction Society for the year 2025, including 4 Grand Prizes, 50 First Prizes, 64 Second Prizes, and 48 Technical Innovation Awards. The attending experts presented awards to the winning units, commending their outstanding contributions in the field of steel structure.

In addition, the conference also held concurrent events such as the “2025 Annual Collegiate Steel Structure Innovation Competition,” a technical exchange meeting on “New Materials, New Technologies, and New Products,” and a technical observation of the construction site at Nanning Airport. These events provided a platform for industry colleagues to exchange ideas, learn, and showcase innovations, building a bridge for communication and cooperation in China’s steel structure industry. Looking ahead, the China Steel Structure Association will anchor on the “dual carbon” goals, with technological innovation as the engine, standard upgrades as the traction, and talent cultivation as the support. Together with its vast membership, it will embark on a new journey of high-quality development for the steel structure industry.
